“We had the enviable problem that we were expanding and outgrowing our existing premises. Because we are located in a fantastic area, ideally suited for access to all major UK road networks, we were reluctant to relocate. PDiC provided a highly supportive team to work closely with our appointed main contractor. As part of our vetting process, in order to choose a supplier who could meet our exacting standards, we visited one of PDiC’s previous projects.

Clearly we wanted a supplier who would provide the quality, the finish and the necessary attention to detail that would ensure our project ran smoothly and was completed on time. After visiting mezzanine projects created and installed by three other possible contractors, it became clear that the quality and finish of the PDiC structure outshone the others. We therefore entered into lengthy discussions with PDiC’s MD Stephen Shaw following which a deal was struck for the supply and installation of a 22,000 sq.ft. double tier mezzanine floor.

Housing an upper tier dedicated to bulk pick items, there is also a first floor picking area dedicated to lighter fast moving product incorporating a conveyor system for stock replenishment and despatch which serves all levels of the structure.

In addition to the main contract, PDiC also created a secondary area on the first floor of the mezzanine structure. This forms an air conditioned confectionary store designed to keep chocolate and other perishable food items in a fresh condition at all times.

To keep our working area as clear as possible, we needed the widest possible space between the columns that support the Mezzanine floor. This was a VITAL requirement and with the PDiC design providing 7.5m column-spacings, they fulfilled this brilliantly.”
